Kakamega is a town in western Kenya lying about 30 km north of the Equator. I had the pleasure of visiting on one of my previous travels and really love the amazing prints that seem to invite you to dance as if no one’s watching.
Mixed media pots are specially designed to ensure no two pots are ever exactly the same. They are first hand-painted on the interior and exterior and then decorated with either a fabric or other select material that is glued onto the pot. The process is time intensive but produces a beautiful end product. Each pot is then triple-sealed and coated with a varnish to enhance image quality. Gemi Green employs bold and creative prints for these pots that are designed to give viewers a showstopping experience.
